Eleanor Barrow Williams papers, 1893-1976.

The collection consists of papers of Eleanor Barrow Williams from 1893-1976. The papers include correspondence, diaries, financial records, and photographic negatives. Most of the correspondence is dated before 1914 and after 1918. Early correspondence (1893-1912) consists of letters to Williams from family members and from Williams to her parents written during her trips to France, Germany, Great Britain, and Italy. Later correspondence (1918-1976) contains letters of condolence on the death (1918) of her husband, Henry Jewett Williams; letters from Charlie Wells at the University of the South (Sewanee, Tenn.) with news of campus activities; and from Anna (Laurie) Poats with news of family and friends. The collection also contains correspondence of daughter Eleanor Barrow Jewett Karow from 1928-1950, mainly consisting of letters to and from her mother discussing family news.

Henry Lee Jewett Williams (1887-1918), Episcopal priest, professor at the University of the South (Sewanee, Tenn.), and Army Captain during World War I. Married Eleanor P.
